Meditation on The Wheel of Fortune
*composed by Nimue for Tarot Portals

Night...Mists rise like wraiths; wafting, wispy seekers spangled with
violet fire... faery light.
Hyssop scents the way as you come upon a plateau that stretches hugely
to the pale, luminous line of the horizon.
The Milky Way ascends and arcs overhead in a universal road.  Stars are
shot through the indigo dome of the heavens where Orion and Cassiopeia
reign with Jupiter and The Seven Sisters.

Hush... It seems so quiet, but the pervasive sound of the Universe
vibrates awesomely throughout ALL, awakening the corresponding light
that flows in the blood of your veins; carrying the pictures of your
destiny.

There - A star falls near gleaming Jupiter, beckoning you like the
Magi.  As it careens to the Earth, it undulates like a serpent,
rogue lightning, and brings a faint, ephemeral light to the plateau's
center.... where  an ancient stone circle is revealed!

You hasten toward it filled with expectation.  The starlit path is
glowing, reflecting heaven's order overhead and there is magic all
around in the night.  How perfectly the standing stones inscribe the
circumference of a great wheel, as if drawn by God's hand. Their aged
stone members vibrate with otherworldly intelligence.  A Council of
Eight 'round which the stars reel.
One portal between them brightens and a figure emerges, slowly striding
to meet you. He is swathed in saffron robes and his grey beard is
curled like scrolls.. "I am Janus, God of the gateway between cycles. I
look before to what may be and behind to what has been. Come now into
the center of the wheel." He turns, or has he? For his face is still
regarding you! Yet, his figure is receding; disappearing between two
megaliths.

You follow through the gateway formed by an interval in the  stones
into the wheel....stunned to behold a sphinx! The androgynous being
crouches royally on a golden dais. Pale and haunting blue light
emanates in mysterious radiance about the lion's body with woman's
breasts. A sword thrusts upward beneath the claw, silver handle with
obsidian and diamond inlay...where gargantuan wings arc upward, lucent
and graceful as the spiraling arm of a galaxy.

The face with eyes serenely shut as if in deep meditation. You feel
once more the toning of the Ages resounding above, below, behind,
before and within, as the sphinx opens it's restive eyes and you hear
it's words echoing in perfect acoustic resonance in an outward,
concentric swell, filling the monolithic perimeter with it's wisdom for
your ears alone.

Ritual for The Norns

The energy brought forth when working with the Norns is different than other circles
cast. The bringers of Natural Law create a circle of raw energy older than the Gods
themselves and this should be kept in mind when casting a circle with their help.

"WINDS OF CHANGE RITUAL"

This can be done on the new moon.If possible do this outside.

You will need:
Two glasses of red wine or juice
3 candles - black, white, and red with Peorth carved on them
3 red apples
matches, pen, paper, and a fireproof container.

You can use a wand or athame to cast your circle if you prefer.

Set up your altar facing North - the directions of the Norns. Place your items on the
altar.

Facing North call forth the North Wind thinking of what you associate with the
North. Say,

"Mother Wind come to me, bless and protect my circle".

Casting your circle face East, saying,

"Father Wind come to me, bless and protect my circle".

Continue around to South, saying,

"Shaman Wind come to me, bless and protect my circle".

Facing West say,

"Ancestors' Wind come to me, bless and protect my circle".

Standing in front of your altar, light your candles calling on each Norn: Urdh,
Verdandi, and Skuld. Place one cup of wine or juice in front of the candles, using the
other to toast the Norns saying,

"Blessed be the Fates!"

Taking your pen and paper write down what you would like to change. Then talk to
the Mothers. Tell them about it, talk to them as if they were sitting across the table
from you. Listen to what they have to say.

When you are finished, burn your paper. If you have juice or wine left, toast the Norns
again, thanking them for their help. Scatter your ashes around the circle.

Open your circle, put the apples in the garden as an offering. Let the candles burn until
they extinguish with the glass of wine by it. When they are finished pour the
wine/juice in the Earth. Blessed Be!
